Elders are are an important segment of society for their knowledge must not be forgotten &each one should be remembered through their stories.

About

Creating Awareness Of Anishinabe Traditions was formed to actively address the needs of our Elders. As well as give them voice through their stories. We also provide tools for community members to better understand their First Nation government and family history.

Awareness

The lack of understanding of our history by the youth of today and the public in general is one area we will actively engage. Through mulitple websites to spread the word and through public discussions. Engagement in these discussions by Elders is our goal. To give them a role in this project.

Through our knowledge we provide information on how to research their First Nation on their own. We give each community member the power for change. They can see for themselves what funding is available and how it is spent. As well as the ability to research their family tree through the use of websites that do not charge for use.

Education

All of these current projects are to create the following. Personal empowerment through research. But the most important project is the "Write An Elder" campaign. This is not a cause just for First Nations people. There are many Elders in this world who would be happy to receive a letter, postcard or holiday card for the holidays. Just because.
